Natural Bridge State Park, 477 South Lee Highway, Natural Bridge, has special events planned for October:

  • Twilight Wagon Rides October 6 and 19 at 6 p.m.

Join rangers for autumn twilight wagon rides and enjoy the wilder reaches of Natural Bridge State Park. On these rides, enjoy the sunset vistas and hollows of the park while a ranger discusses the history and ecology of the region. Space is limited, preregistration required. Call (540) 291-1330 to register. Price is $3 per person or $8 per family. Payment can be made in advance at the Visitor Center; arrive early to allow time for payment and navigation to the parking area.

  • October 13, Full Moon Yoga at 6 p.m.

The last Full Moon Yoga of the year, hosted by Center of Gravity Yoga Studio at Natural Bridge State Park, will begin with a wagon ride to Jefferson Point and end as the full moon rises. Preregistration is required by calling (540) 291-1330. Cost is $10 per participant. This program is intended for adult participants.

  • Haunted History Hike October 26 at 6 p.m.

During a single night in October, ghostly ghouls from the past once again roam the trails surrounding the venerable and vaunted Natural Bridge –or do they?  A ranger-led Haunted History Hike after dark will detail certain lore that continues to haunt the bridge:

Did an entire family suffer a grisly murder on the premises? Were people dangled from the bridge in a cage? Did busloads of tourists careen off the top of the bridge on a rainy summer night? Do witches haunt the nearby woods, casting spells that turn people into animals?

The hike starts at 6 p.m. and will last approximately two hours, and includes the 137 stairs through the woods that lead down to the bridge.  Dress for the weather. The event is not recommended for children under 8.  Cost is $10 per person, payable at the NBSP Visitor Center only.  Reservations required at 540-291-1330. Light refreshments will follow.
