Open Studios – Botetourt, a self-guided driving tour, will return for its ninth year on October 26 (10 a.m.-5 p.m.) and October 27 (11 a.m.-5 p.m.). “Art in the Country” will feature 14 artists in 12 locations opening their studios to the public.
“Returning this year will be the popular artist demonstrations,” said member artist Brett LaGue. “Each artist will work for 20 minutes. Mark Woodie’s medium is pastel on Saturday, Oct. 26, at 12 noon, with Vera Dickerson following at 12:30 that day. She will be painting. On Sunday, Oct. 27, Nancy Dahlstrom will demonstrate her printing process at 12 noon. Woodturner Willie Simmons will follow at 12:30 to explain some wood-working techniques.”
Artists participating in the 2019 Open Studios tour are Ed Bordett, Brett LaGue, Dreama Kattenbraker, Mark Woodie, Vera Dickerson, Nancy Dahlstorm, Lois Bisese, Willie Simmons, Dan Jones, Linda Atkinson, Amy Herzel, and Judith F. Lochbrunner. Two guest artists, Robin Poteet and Mary Anne Meador, will also join the tour.
Each stop on the tour will also have a display of paintings by art students at James River High School and Lord Botetourt High School.
