Patricia Ann “Pat” Harris, 87, passed away Tuesday February 16 2021, at Our Lady of the Valley.
Pat was born in Bedford on April 2, 1933. She was raised and attended school in Bedford before moving to Richmond. She relocated to Cloverdale in 1968 where she resided until moving to Our Lady of the Valley retirement community. She was the daughter of the late Paul O. and Mary E. Isreal Forbes.
Pat was a homemaker and loving caretaker of her husband, children and extended family. She never knew a stranger and had the “gift of gab.” She was one of those souls that was truly kind at heart. She was very proud of being Deaconess Emeritus at Green Hill Church of the Brethren. Pat enjoyed crossword puzzles, cake baking and coloring.
In addition to her parents, Pat was preceded in death by her husband, Norman L “Mickey” Harris. She is survived by her sons and daughter, Daniel Fowler and Anita Painter of Lexington, Michael Fowler of Forest, Patrick and Christine Fowler of Lynchburg, Clarence “Earnie” and Stacy Harris of Blue Ridge, and Jenny Harris Ledikwe of Gaborone, Botswana; 12 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild; brother, Paul “Bud” Forbes of Buchanan; sisters-in-law, Dorothy Barnett of Salem, Joyce Harris of Cloverdale; and special friends, Diane Fowler of Goodview and Tonya Smoot of Roanoke.
A celebration of a life well lived was held at 3 p.m. Saturday, February 20 at Rader Funeral Home, Daleville. Pastor Mike Varner officiated. Burial was in Daleville Cemetery immediately following.
