The Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) notes that paving is under way for the new roadway on US 11 and the roundabout at the Exit 150B northbound exit and entrance ramps and Gateway Crossing.
By late this summer or in early fall, those portions of the rebuild will open for traffic.
VDOT Communications Coordinator Jen Ward said the highway department will have information for the public about how to drive through the roundabout prior to the opening.
Once the rebuild sections of roadway reopen, some of the current detours will be removed as work begins on US 11 in front of the Pilot station and Exit 150A.
Nighttime lane closures are scheduled for paving operations on I-81 as well, through Thursday, July 27. That includes the I-81 northbound right lane at mile marker 150-151 between 9 p.m. and 6 a.m. the following morning.
The Exit 150 northbound on-ramp is closed from midnight to 5 a.m. through July 27.
The US 220 northbound right lane will be closed Sunday, July 30 through Thursday, August 3, from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m. for a water line placement.
