Newassa Jean Painter Peery, 75, of Buchanan, went to be with the Lord on Friday, December 13, 2024.
Jean was a beautiful and loving wife, mother, and love of Butch’s life for over 56 years. She retired as secretary for Farm Bureau in Botetourt County, and she loved to read books.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Bill and Loraine Orange Painter; sister, Clara Sue Painter McCullough; brother, Billy Painter, brother-in-law, Jerry Guerra; and grandson Zachary Ryan Sample.
She is survived by her husband of 56 years, Donald Ray “Butch” Peery; daughter and son-in-law, Laurie Beth and Scott Sample; son and daughter-in-law, Kevin Scott and Brooke Peery; grandchildren, Kendra and Jeffery Fralin, Colleen and Bradley Bolton and Cullen Sample; and great-grandbaby on the way; sister, Kathy Guerra; sister-in-law, Debbie Painter; brothers-in-law, Lewis and Charla Peery, Gary and Karen Peery; sister-in-law, Donna and Tommy Ayers; and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family will receive family and friends on Wednesday, December 18, 2024 from 5 to 7 p.m. in the Buchanan Chapel of the Botetourt Funeral Home, with the Memorial Service following the visitation at 7 p.m. with Pastor Mike Anderson officiating.
