The Ladies’ Golf Association of Botetourt Golf & Swim Club dedicated a plaque in the Memorial Garden in memory of Carol Camper Snyder Brenner on Sunday, Sept. 20. Carol, who died of ovarian cancer on October 14, 2019, was an active golfer in the Roanoke Valley and coached the golf team at James River High School for a number of years.
The Memorial Garden, just off the ladies’ tee at No. 4 at the Botetourt golf course, honors deceased members with flowers, a memorial bench and plaques denoting their names, dates and a few words symbolizing their contribution to the club. Margaret Jenkins read words of remembrance and Judy Race added a personal salute from the members. Among members in attendance were Ann Gillespie, Sue Bach, Mary Ann Childress, Penny McIver, Cindy Musgrove, Betty Damian, and Donna Cox.
Family members who added comments were nephew Morgan Goad, Carol’s son, Andrew Snyder, and Carol’s husband, Alan Brenner. The family gathered around the garden bench for a picture following the presentation.
