Nashville Night will return to James River High School for its ninth year on Saturday, September 28 at 7 p.m.
Returning to the show this year will be five songwriters from Nashville– Buchanan native Matthew Ramsey, Trevor Rosen, Josh Osborne, Matt Jenkins, and Shane McAnally.
Since the first Nashville Night back in 2011, the success of the songwriters has been steady. During the first night there was only one hit song, but today the group has racked up nearly 100 hits as well as multiple Academy of Country Music, Country Music Association, Billboard and Grammy awards. The organizers said that they are especially excited this year because one of their songwriters, Shane McAnally, is now a judge on the television reality series “Songland.”
Nashville Night, created to help fund the Buchanan Area Food Pantry, will be expanding its benefits under the helm of the Ramsey Foundation. The foundation was created by Ramsey to provide resources to organizations in rural communities. The focus is to help meet daily life needs and to further the enrichment of cultural arts. All proceeds from the show will be donated to the Ramsey Foundation, which will, in turn, gift them to organizations in the local community.
Throughout the years, Nashville Night has grown in popularity. When it first started it was held at the Buchanan Theatre where there were only 200 seats; later it shifted to the auditorium at James River High School, which accommodated 500 people. Now, it is held in the gymnasium at the school, which can hold up to 1,500 people.
Tickets will be on sale August 16 from 12 p.m.-7 p.m. and August 17 from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. at the Buchanan Library, 19795 Main Street, Buchanan.
The prices will remain the same as last year, $50 for VIP seats that include Meet & Greet passes, $35 floor level seats and $25 general admission bleacher seats.
There will be an eight-ticket limit per person and no call-in orders will be taken. Any tickets that are left after 2 p.m. on the day of the concert will be available online.
Biographies of the songwriters are as follows:
Ramsey serves as the lead singer of Old Dominion, which recently released its sophomore album, “Happy Endings.” The album debuted at Number 1 on the Billboard Top Country Albums Chart and at Number 7 on the Top 200. The band’s first album, “Meat and Candy,” was certified Gold by the Recording Industry Association of America.
Rosen is a multi-instrumentalist in the band.
McAnally has written and/or produced 40 Number 1 songs and has been given three Grammy Awards. The show “Songland” allows aspiring songwriters the ability to pitch their compositions on-air to well-known performers while being mentored by McAnally and two other acclaimed songwriters.
Osborne has nearly 90 recorded songs to his credit. His first Number 1 song, Kenney Chesney recorded “Come Over,” was released in 2012. In 2014, he was presented with the Best Country Song Grammy award for “Merry Go Round,” which was recorded by Kacey Musgraves.
Jenkins has written Number 1 songs for Dustin Lynch and Florida Georgia Line. His songs have also been featured on the ABC television series Nashville.
