First Bank is now accepting registrations for its 39th annual Fall Run to be held on Saturday, Oct. 18.  The race, featuring 5K and 10K events, winds through the Town of Fincastle. “Hosting the largest event held in the Town of Fincastle each year takes a great amount of teamwork among the community,”,  said Todd Ross, Roanoke Valley Market President. “The race would not be possible without the support from Botetourt County Public Schools, the Town of Fincastle, our volunteers and the race participants.  We also want to thank Botetourt County and our first responders who help make this event a success.”

Online registration is available through RunSignUp.com.  Everyone who registers by the October 4 early registration is guaranteed a custom long-sleeve shirt featuring a new design each year. The cost to enter is $15 for students age 17 and under and $35 for adults 18 and older who register prior to October 6. After October 4, all registrations are $40.

The First Bank Fall Run begins at 9 a.m. at Central Academy Middle School each year and extends through the Town of Fincastle and ends back at Central Academy for an awards ceremony and refreshments. Custom medals and trophies are also presented to the top individual, first, second and third place runners in adult and youth age groups, as well as runners who compete as elementary, middle school, high school and open teams. “We always look forward to the excitement among all the runners, but especially the elementary school teams who compete for trophies for their school,” said Ross.

First Bank presents $2,000 in scholarships each year to students from James River and Lord Botetourt who have participated in a previous Fall Run. The 2025 recipients were Neveah VanBuren of James River High School and Jillian Harris from Lord Botetourt.
