Don Rice (left), a teacher and coach at James River High School, was presented a quilt by the “Quilts of Valor” organization prior to the James River baseball game against Glenvar in Springwood on May 1. The organization makes quilts and donates them to people who have a tie to the military and have been nominated for consideration. In the past two years the organization has presented over 100 quilts to deserving citizens. Here, Nancy Karnes reads a proclamation as people with military ties line the third base line. Rice was nominated by Sirens & Salutes.
