Richard “Tommy” Francis Wood, 74, passed away on Tuesday, November 23, 2021.
He was born in Clifton Forge to the late Francis Richard and Mildred Virginia Shupe Wood, and lived most of his life in Troutville. Tommy was a veteran of the United States Air Force, serving as a military K-9 trainer. He then came home and was a truck driver for many years.
Tommy was a permanent fixture at Greenwood Family Restaurant for as long as the staff and owners could remember, having a funny “You are No. 1 in my book” and plenty of conversation, whether you wanted to hear it or not. Always sitting in his usual seat, you would hear him before you would see him.
Along with his Greenwood family, he is also survived by his cousins, Florence Puckett Fahrbach and Lynda Puckett Howell; and fur baby, Tiger Lily.
Family services were private; however, there was a celebration of Tommy’s life at Greenwood Family Restaurant, Troutville, on Sunday, December 12, at 4:30 p.m. by current owner and lifelong friend, Joyce Lugar. Online condolences may be made at botetourtfuneralhome.com.
