
The James River football team is preparing for the coming football season under new coach Jack Baker and his staff. Summer camp opened last Thursday and the Knights will continue with 3:30 to 8:30 p.m. practices this week except for Thursday, which is picture day for the Knights. School begins Monday and practice will be from 4 to 6 p.m. The first scrimmage is August 15 at Craig County High.

The Lord Botetourt football team is off and running and the Cavaliers will have their first scrimmage this Saturday when they take on New Kent High School at 10 a.m. at Hampden-Sydney College. The Cavaliers jump right into the soup as they open the season early, on August 23, against Rye Cove High at Emory & Henry University. Lord Botetourt will scrimmage Dobyns-Bennett High of Tennessee at Emory & Henry next week, on Thursday, August 14.
