The James River baseball team saw their season come to an end with a loss in the Region 2C opening round last week. River dropped a 19-5 decision at Giles last Thursday evening.
The Knights couldn’t do much with the Spartan offense, as Giles’ Conner Duncan had a three-run homer among his four hits and Noah Jones had three hits, including an inside-the-park home run.
For River, Chase Oberg and Dyllan McAllister had two hits each. McAllister had two runs batted in as River ended the season with a 4-15 record.
Giles advanced to Monday’s quarterfinal round, where the Spartans lost to Fort Chiswell, 6-1. The region semifinals and championship will be at Kiwanis Field in Salem on Wednesday and Friday.
