The James River baseball team lost Three Rivers District games to Floyd County and Carroll County in the past week and look to rebound next Monday when the Knights host Carroll in Springwood.
Last Friday at home visiting Floyd beat James River 14-2. Floyd took a first inning lead, then scored four in the fourth and the Knights never caught up.
Zeal Hammons started and took the loss for the Knights. Jake Braun had two hits for River and Kahlique White, Austin Thomas, Logan Campbell and Ben Bailey had one each.
On Monday in Hillsville, Carroll jumped to an early lead on a Brant Davidson home run and that was all the Cavaliers would need in a 6-0 shutout win. Carroll pitcher Jackson Hull struck out 14 and held the Knights to three hits, two for Gabe Sebastino and one for Dalton Hall. Thomas pitched the first four innings and took the loss for River.
The two losses dropped River to 1-6 on the season and they’re off the rest of this week before returning Monday to host Carroll.
