The James River boys will try to get back to the winning side of the ledger Thursday when they host Carroll County in a Three Rivers District soccer match. The Knights fell to Alleghany in Springwood Monday, 5-2, to drop to 1-3 on the season.
“It was a good physical game by both teams,” said River coach Jared Whiting. “We struggled a little in the first half and dug us into a hole. The second half we settled in and started working our way back out with excellent possession and controlled the game nicely.”
River goals were scored by Brayden Forbes and Angel Morales. Noah Langley had a dozen saves in the cage for the Knights.
“I was proud of how hard the guys worked and saw some very sound soccer out of them,” said Whiting. “We now need to work on that type of play for 80 minutes.”
