The James River High School swimmers competed against Franklin County, Carroll County, and Staunton River last Wednesday at the Franklin County YMCA. Relay wins helped power the girls team to victory over all three schools while the boys team had a win over Staunton River.
The girls 200 free relay team, comprised of Kaylee Cox, Ellie Holter, Norah Jones, and Adaline Bisese, finished first. The girls 400 relay team of Megan Cox, Adaline Bisese, Kaylee Cox and Sydney Wilson also finished first overall.
Other first place finishes were the girls 200 medley relay team of Ellie Holter, Kelsi Hammons, Sydney Wilson and Megan Cox. Hammons went on to place first in the 1000 breaststoke while Wilson won the 100 butterfly and Dillon Minnix finished first in the 100 free.
This Thursday River will be hosting Salem, Glenvar, Alleghany, and Staunton River at the Botetourt YMCA at 7 p.m. It will also be Senior Night for the Knight swimmers.
