Joey Schroeder had his best score of the season as James River finished third in a Three Rivers District golf match at the Cliff View course in Alleghany County Monday.
Schroeder led the Knights with an 82 and River put two more golfers in the 80s, Silas Miller at 84 and Ryan Steger at 86. Dylan Hicks rounded out the scoring with a 96.
“The team played really well,” said River coach Donna Cox. “Joey led the team with his season’s best score and Silas was right on his heels.”
Two golfers tied for medalist with 70s, Trevor Price of Radford and Logan Douthat of Giles. Those two have been battling for district honors all season.
Radford took teams honors Monday with a total of 312 to 321 for Giles. River was next at 348 followed by Glenvar at 364 and host Alleghany at 450.
The Knights will wrap up the regular season on Thursday with a match at Hanging Rock. The Region 2C tournament is Monday at the River Course in Radford.
“I’m expecting a strong showing from our top four golfers,” said Cox.
