The James River football team will play a benefit game at Bassett High this Friday night, August 18, beginning at 7 p.m. The Knights hosted Nelson County and Gretna in a controlled scrimmage last Friday. “We saw a lot of good and a lot of stuff to work on,” said coach Tim Jennings. “Gretna had an athletic advantage on us but our kids played hard. The effort was very good.” River will open the season at home against Buffalo Gap on August 25.
