The James River indoor track team competed in the Wally Gilbert Invitational at Heritage High School last weekend and had some strong performances.
Kelsey Firebaugh finished fourth in the 55 meters and had a state qualifying time in the event. Kelsey also ran on the fourth place 4×200 relay team with Ripley Barry, Kaia Binns and Naveah VanBuren.
VanBuren took a sixth in the triple jump with a state qualifying distance. Drew Whitson took a sixth in the 1,600 meters.
For the boys, Gavin Binns was fifth in the 55. His time was fast enough to qualify for the state meet.
The Knights will run at Roanoke College this weekend along with Lord Botetourt and a host of other high school teams.
