The James River volleyball team lost to two Three Rivers District rivals last week, losing at Radford and to Carroll County at home.
At Radford the Knights lost in four sets. Radford won the first two, 25-20 and 25-16, but River battled back to win the third, 25-18. Radford then put it away with a 25-14 win in the fourth. Sage Beddingfield had seven kills for River and Ainsley Simmons had four.
On Thursday at home the girls played host to Carroll County and battled the visiting Cavaliers for five sets before falling, 25-13, 23-25, 25-10, 20-25 and 15-3. Morgan Marshall led River in this one with 12 kills, Beddingfield had 11 and Kjersten DeHaven had 21 digs for the Knights.
The two losses dropped River to 6-9 overall and the girls were scheduled to host Floyd on Tuesday. Next Tuesday, October 8, they’re at Giles.
