The James River volleyball team won their fourth match in a row Monday as the Knights defeated Covington in four games. The win evened River’s season record at 6-6.
River lost the first set in Springwood Monday, 25-22, before rallying to win the next three in a row. The Knights had 49 kills to just 29 for the Cougars, led by 25 by Sage Beddingfield.
The Knights won all three of their matches last week, defeating Parry McCluer in three sets and both Glenvar and Alleghany in four each. Of River’s six losses two have been to undefeated Lord Botetourt and three came against very strong competition from larger schools in an event at the Virginia Volleyball Center over Labor Day weekend.
The Knights were back in action Tuesday at Radford and Thursday they’re back home to host Carroll County. Next Tuesday, October 1, Floyd County comes to Springwood.
