The James River track team will compete in the Region 2C track meet at Glenvar High School this Friday. Events begin at 10 a.m. at Highlander Stadium.
Lord Botetourt will run in the Region 3D meet today. That will be hosted by Christiansburg High School.
James River athletes competed in the Three Rivers District meet at Floyd County last Thursday and had some strong performances. For the boys, Gavin Binns won the 100 and 200 with times of 11.14 and 22.98. Jack Beheler won the discus with a heave of 143’.
Taking seconds were Jaden Alston in both the shot put and discus and Braden Jones in the 1,600 meters. Jones was also sixth in the 800. Ryder Ward was third in the triple jump and fifth in the long jump.
For the girls, Samaya Osborne won the shot put at 34’6.75” and Samaya also took fifth in the discus. Kaia Binns was second in the 100 and Denver Rinehart was fifth in the 100 and third in the 400.
Also scoring were Gretchen Huffman and Janiya Falls with fourth and fifth in the shot put and Rhaya Kitt with a sixth in the long jump.
