Roy “Popcorn” Kenny Burrell Jr., of Iron Gate, was called home to be with the Lord Friday, May 14, 2021 at Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital following a brief illness.
Roy was born in Fincastle to Roy Kenny Burrell Sr., and Pearl Elaine Ward Burrell.
He is survived by his wife, Norvella Hunter Burrell; son, Zachary Mack of Roanoke; bonus children, Ebbony of Manassas, Russell of Lynchburg, and John of Roanoke: nine grandchildren; his precious dog, Atomic; brothers and sisters-in-law, Kelvin and Bertha Burrell of Fincastle, Emory Burrell of Troutville, Roger Payton and Essie Burrell of Troutville; sisters, Rita Chaney of Roanoke, Janice Burrell of Troutville, Karen Williams of Toledo, Ohio, Adrian Hancock of Roanoke; and many loving family and friends. In addition to his parents, Roy was preceded in death by his brothers, Gregory Burrell, Johnny Burrell, and Corey Hancock; and a sister, Elaine Arrington.
Roy enjoyed life. He loved relaxing with his dog Atomic and spending time with friends. Most important to him was his family.
