Va. Bear Hunters present scholarhship
Savannah Blake Looney, a 2017 graduating senior at Craig County High School, was awarded a $1,000 college scholarship by the Virginia Bear Hunters Association (VBHA). The award was presented to Savannah at her graduation on May 26.
Savannah is the daughter of Larry and Stephanie Looney of New Castle, members of the VBHA. She plans to attend Radford University and pursue a career in neonatal nursing.
The Virginia Bear Hunters Association is a statewide organization dedicated to the preservation of hunting bear with dogs and to sound wildlife management principles. The association’s annual scholarship is open to members and their families and is awarded based on academic achievement, planned course of study, community and association participation, honors and awards, and an essay.
Sane earns Faculty Honors at GIT
Caroline Sane of Daleville earned the distinction of Faculty Honors for spring 2017 at the Georgia Institute of Technology in Atlanta. This designation is awarded to undergraduate students who have a 4.0 academic average for the semester.
Area students on President’s, Dean’s Lists at Alabama
A total of 11,101 students enrolled during the 2017 spring semester at The University of Alabama were named to the Dean’s List with an academic record of 3.5 (or above) or the President’s List with an academic record of 4.0 (all A’s). The UA Dean’s and President’s Lists recognize full-time undergraduate students. The lists do not apply to graduate students or undergraduate students who take less than a full course load.
