Dean on Shenandoah Dean’s List
Cody Dean of Fincastle, a Business Administration major in Shenandoah University’s Harry F. Byrd Jr. School of Business, was named to the Fall 2017 Dean’s List.
To be considered, students must, for that semester, complete at least 12 semester hours and earn a semester GPA of 3.5 or higher.
Dabney Education Foundation awards scholarships
The DSLCC Educational Foundation has awarded $142,000 in scholarships and an additional $143,000 in Dabney Promise Program scholarships for the 2017-2018 academic year to 120 area residents, including 54 DSLCC students, who are continuing their education at DSLCC or who are returning to education to pursue a degree or credential.
Among the scholarship recipients is Botetourt resident Shaniece Crouch, who received the Carolyn B. Nettleton Scholarship for Business and the Wilson Cup for Scholarship, Character, and Community Service
Smith initiated into Phi Kappa Phi at Va. Tech
Brandy Smith of Blue Ridge, a student at Virginia Tech, has been initiated into The Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi, the nation’s oldest and most selective collegiate honor society for all academic disciplines.
JRHS Counseling Department hosts College Panel of grads
The James River High School Counseling Department hosted its College Panel on December 18. The 2017 James River graduates who attended were Dylan Hickock, Jonathan Perry, Davis Fenster, Skylar Witt, Austin Metz, Ashley Denney, Kasey Tolley, Olivia Simmons, Lauren Ogle and Hannah Nelms. The college freshmen shared about their first semester of college and gave advice to this year’s senior class at James River.
