Virgie Katherine Britt Seay, 91, of Buchanan, passed away peacefully at home in the early morning hours of February 4, 2024. We know she is resting easy in the arms of her Lord and Savior and will be greatly missed by all who loved her.
Virgie was a 58-year member of Mt. Bethel Church of the Brethren. She enjoyed gardening and was an avid sports fan, especially basketball and UVA sports. Virgie retired in 1994 as Personnel Manager of Groendyk Manufacturing after many years.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 54 years, Bruce Thomas Seay; parents, Frank and Ethel Lee Britt; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Luther and Mae (Aaron) Seay; daughters, infant Dreama Katherine Seay, Charlotte Seay Simmons; brothers and sisters-in-law, Lawrence “Buck” and Cottie Britt, Burnell “Bunny” Britt, Londo “Lonnie” and Wilda Vines Britt, Earl Britt, Ray Britt; former sisters-in-law, Tillie Britt and Sara Britt; sisters and brothers-in-law, Halsie and Charles Chapman, Elizabeth “Sis” and June Whitmore, Ruth “Toodle” and Kenneth Stull, and infant Shirley Jean Britt; brother-in-law, Ronnie Seay; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Frances Seay and Jim Smith.
Virgie is survived by her children, Donna (Allen) Hensley of Buchanan, Connie (Bobby) Tolley of Botetourt County, Mark Seay, and Angie (David) Williams, all of Buchanan; grandchildren, Brandy Hensley, Brian (Jennifer) Hensley, Tiffany (Chad) Yount, Aimee (Van) Bateman, and Kala Dudley; great-grandchildren, Elijah and Anabelle Bateman, Simmons and Sullivan Yount, and Emilia Trent; brothers-in-law, Gary (Winnie) Seay and Richard Seay; sisters-in-law, Nancy Britt, Iona Seay (RC) Watts; former sisters-in-law, Betty Britt, Jeanette Seay, and Judy Johnson; numerous nieces and nephews.
A celebration of a life well lived will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, February 9 at Rader Funeral Home, Daleville with Virgie’s nephew, Richard Britt, officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Bethel Church of the Brethren Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home 4-7 p.m. Thursday.
