Attic Productions invites the public to the D. Geraldine Lawson Performing Arts Center, 7490 Roanoke Road, Fincastle, for “Jane Austen’s Sense and Sensibility,” adapted in The Book-It Style by Jennifer Lee Taylor, directed by Angela McNeil.
This June marks the 250th anniversary of Jane Austen’s birth, and this production is based on her first published work. The show runs March 27-30 and April 3-6, with Thursday and Friday performances at 7:30 p.m. and Saturday and Sunday shows at 2:30 p.m.
“Sense and Sensibility” tells the story of the Dashwood family’s two oldest sisters, Elinor and Marianne, following them after the death of their father, when the inheritance went to an older half-brother, leaving them with nothing but linens and some china dishes. In true Jane Austen style, the audience will experience their love, heartbreak, and society’s pressures upon them. This adaptation is presented in Book-It style, where the characters will occasionally break the fourth wall and speak to the audience, narrating their thoughts or experiences.
Adult tickets are $20, students 18 and under and groups of 10 or more are $15 when paid in cash or by check at the box office.
