In case you missed it, here’s a wrap up of post-season conference, region and state honors for James River High School spring athletes.
In baseball, Luke Harman and Landen Horton were first team All-Conference 38, Luke at utility and Horton on the mound. Second teamers were Kavin Vest (1B), Coulter Hodges (P) and Andrew Harless (3B).
In softball, first teamers were Olivia Simmons at pitcher, Josey Lackey at catcher, Hollie Hill at utility, Evie Melvin at designated player and both Cameron Hildebrand and Lakota Lucado in the outfield. Simmons was Conference 38 Player of the Year.
Second teamers were Erin Peery at second and Sydney Gordon at DP.
Simmons and Hildebrand were named first team All-Region 2A West and Lackey was named to the second team. Olivia and Cameron were second team All-State in Group 2A.
In girls soccer, the combined Conference 37/38 team included five girls from River on the first team, Colleen Peery, Emma Butler, Kaitlyn McClung, Brook Ford and Tessa Jones. Second teamers were Olivia Baker, Megan Hill, Kendra Peery, Kaitlyn Johnson, Blair Grim and Grace Dye.
Ford was named to the 2A West first team and Colleen Peery and Jones were second teamers.
For the boys, first team All-Conference players were Tyler Whiting, Ben Woody, Tristan Flood, Zach Hodges and Bradford Stephenson. Second teamers were Jacob Wagner, River Clonch, Dalton Simmons, Travis Sisson and Tyler Meadows.
Hodges was named first team All-Region 2A West and second team All-State, Group 2A, on defense. All-Region second teamers were Whiting and Woody.
