Smith, Evelyn

February 27, 2024
in Obituaries
0

It is with great sadness that the family of Evelyn Smith announces her passing on February 22, 2024. But we take comfort that Evelyn is in a better place surrounded by friends and family who went before her.

Evelyn leaves behind two children, Lou Ann (L.A.) Smith and Danny Smith, and Danny’s wife Cindy. She also leaves five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. She loved them dearly and doted on them at every opportunity. Evelyn was preceded in death by two children – daughters Laura and Amy – and one grandchild, Jacob.

Evelyn was born in Springwood, Virginia on July 29, 1935.  Life would take her from the hills of Virginia to Chicago to Atlanta and finally to Charlotte. In the late 1960s, she helped her then-husband start a business out of their home. That business still thrives today thanks to the strong foundation that she helped build for its success.

Fast forward to the 1980s and Evelyn’s reinvention of herself. She became a Realtor – very successful and beloved by her clients and coworkers.  She was still in touch with some of them many, many years later.

Perhaps most importantly, Evelyn was a devout Christian and loved her Sunday School class at Hickory Grove Baptist Church. She set a good example for her friends and family by living a Godly life and loving on people no matter what the circumstances.

She herself was loved more than she could know by more than she could know.  We will all miss her dearly but take refuge that she is at peace and happy and in glory.

If you wish to honor Evelyn, the family requests that, in lieu of flowers, donations be made to:

Springwood Baptist Church, 88 Copps Hill Road, Buchanan, 24066.
