Spring sports for Virginia High School League teams will officially begin in less than two weeks and Lord Botetourt and James River teams are scrimmaging in the next week and a half to get ready.
At LB, the boys jayvee and varsity soccer teams had a scrimmage at home with Hidden Valley on Tuesday, and on Thursday the girls soccer team will host James River. LB will host Cave Spring in a jayvee boys soccer game Friday evening.
On Saturday the varsity baseball team will take on Staunton River at 11 a.m. in Daleville and the jayvees are at Brookville. The boys soccer team will participate in a jamboree at Cave Spring.
Next Tuesday, March 7, the softball team will scrimmage Liberty with the varsity in Bedford and the jayvees at home. On Wednesday of next week the varsity baseball team is at Alleghany and the jayvees will host the Mountaineers at 5 p.m.
On Friday, March 10, the girls are at Liberty for a jayvee-varsity soccer doubleheader beginning at 5:30 p.m. On Saturday, March 11, the softball girls will be at Fort Defiance to scrimmage.
James River is at LB for a girls soccer scrimmage Thursday. On Saturday the baseball team will host a jamboree in Springwood, beginnings at 10 a.m., while the boys jayvee soccer team scrimmages Bassett at the Smith River Sports complex.
Next Tuesday, the River varsity baseball team is at Stuarts Draft and the jayvees are home to host the Cougars at 5 p.m. The soccer teams will host Bath County in a doubleheader at James River High with the girls kicking off at 5:30 p.m. and the boys to follow.
On Thursday, March 9, the softball team will scrimmage Covington with the jayvees at Covington High and the varsity at the Jackson River Sports Complex. On Saturday, March 11, the softball team will participate in a jamboree at Cave Spring.
The first events to count in the regular season begin the week of March 13.
