Spring sports return this week after Spring Break

James River and Lord Botetourt sports teams return to action this week after taking time off for spring break.

Two James River teams were planning to return to action Tuesday, although inclement weather was in the forecast. The Knights were scheduled to go to Alleghany for Three Rivers District baseball and softball games.

Today, Wednesday, the Lord Botetourt baseball team is at Salem and the softball team goes to Christiansburg. The Cavalier tennis teams also play Salem, with the boys at the Hollins University courts and the girls in Salem. In soccer, the LB boys host Christiansburg while James River teams play Alleghany with the boys in Springwood and the girls at Alleghany.

On Thursday the LB baseball team is at Blacksburg, the boys soccer team is at Glenvar and the softball team will host Blacksburg. River’s baseball and softball teams will host Floyd and the soccer teams play Carroll County, with the girls at home and the boys at Carroll.

JJ Tyree of LB digs one out of the dirt. The Cavaliers will return from spring break today with a game against the Spartans at Billy Sample Field in Salem.

On Friday, the Cavalier girls are home for a soccer game with Blacksburg. River’s baseball and softball teams are at Carroll County.

On Saturday both the LB and River track teams will make their spring debut when they head to Vinton for the William Byrd Invitational, a 19-school event that will take up most of the day.
