The Virginia State Police is providing free motorcycle self-assessment courses, Ride 2 Save Lives, throughout the summer and into fall.
This is a free course which will help riders assess their ability to handle many different situations that riders face while riding on the roadways.
The course allows participants to ride their motorcycle while learning and practicing rider safety through the use of SIPDE. Participants will learn how to handle Hazards, Special Situations, Interstate Highways, Curve Negotiation and much more. All of this in a safe environment with the assistance of the Virginia State Police motor troopers.
Courses will be held Saturdays, May 20, June 17, July 15, August 12, September 16 and October 14 from 8:30 a.m.-1 p.m. at 447 Dalewood Avenue, Salem.
You must be 18 years of age or older with a Class “M” (motorcycle) endorsement to participate. Motorcycles must be street legal and helmets must be DOT approved to participate in this program.
