Sarah Ann Brewbaker was born September 11, 1935 in Springwood to Harry Moorman Brewbaker and Helen Booze Brewbaker. She married Richard Buford Scott and had two children, Virginia Susan Scott Hudson and Richard Alan Scott.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Richard B. Scott; son, Richard Alan Scott; brother, William Brewbaker; and second husband, Donald “Donnie” Lee Stinnett.
She is survived by her daughter, Virginia Hudson (Robert) of Reedville, Va.; her sister, Harriett Francis of Buchanan; her sister-in-law, Susan Scott King (Ed) of Millsboro, Del.; grandson, Vincent Scott Estes (Olesia) of Norfolk; granddaughter, Virginia Kelly Estes of Reedville, Va.; a great-granddaughter, Virginia Amelia Estes of Norfolk; two nephews and four nieces.
She worked as a dental assistant for Dr. Guy Alphin in Buchanan and orthodontist Dr. Norborne Muir in Roanoke before the family moved to Danville, Va. In Danville, she worked 35 years as an Office Manager for both the Anesthesia Department and the School for Anesthetists at the Danville Memorial Hospital.
During Sarah’s time on earth, her life was dedicated to thoughts of charitable initiatives and successful community outreach programs to lift up adults and children experiencing difficult challenges. She was an active member of Christ the King Lutheran Church where she was an associate organist. She volunteered with the Make a Wish Foundation where, as a wish granter, she made one little boy’s wish come true to meet Donald Trump and other children’s wishes to go to Disney World. In 1985, Sarah spearheaded the church’s support to the coal miners in the Southwest Virginia area and often traveled there to deliver truckloads of much-needed clothing, household items and toys for the children just in time for Christmas.
After marrying Donnie Stinnett in 1998, she relocated to Richmond where she became a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, the Commonwealth Chapter, Daughters of the American Revolution and held many officer positions in the President Davis Chapter, United Daughters of the Confederacy (UDC). While in Richmond, she rallied the church congregation and the UDC chapter to continue her 35-year support to the community of Binns County’s most needy families during the Christmas season. For years she also volunteered at Crossover, a community Health Clinic, where she coordinated patient accounts.
