Storytelling Festival in late April at Botetourt County’s Camp Bethel

Award-winning performers return to the 24th Annual Sounds of the Mountains Storytelling Festival Friday and Saturday, April 25-26, at Camp Bethel, 328 Bethel Road, Fincastle.

This year’s festival features four nationally and internationally known storytellers:

Megan Wells has performed for more than 40 years in museums, with symphonies, and for thousands of children and families at around the country.

Donna Washington has provided workshops and performed for audiences of all ages for over 36 years and has been featured at festivals, schools, libraries, theaters and other venues around the world including Canada, Peru, Ireland Argentina and Hong Kong.

Michael Reno Harrell is an award-winning songwriter, a published author, a nationally known storyteller and a visual artist. For more than 50 years he has performed works based in life experiences in the North Carolina mountains.

Donald Davis retells stories from his own family and places of origin, has served more than 25 years as a Methodist minister and is the recipient of both the Circle of Excellence and the Lifetime Achievement Awards from the National Storytelling Network.

Tickets are on sale now at https://www.soundsofthemountains.org/tickets.html. Full weekend admission is $44 in advance for adults (18+), $22 for children (4-17) and families $110 (2 adults & 3 children); slightly higher day of event. Individual performance tickets are also available.  Food, drinks and snacks will be available for purchase throughout the event and picnicking is allowed.
