John Wesley “Wes” Swope, 61, of Botetourt County, passed away unexpectedly Thursday, October 27, 2022.
Wes was born in Roanoke September 29, 1961 and lived in the Roanoke Valley the past eight years. He was the son of the late John H. Swope and Margie A. Hale Swope.
Wes was a golf professional most of his life and enjoyed fishing and classic rock music in addition to golf. He was a member of the Professional Golfers Association.
In addition to his parents, Wes was preceded in death by his brother, Jimmy King. He is survived by his son, Michael Swope of Colonial Heights; and sisters, Sharon (John) Stanley of Atlanta, and Carolyn Young of Roanoke; nieces, Katie (Sean) O’Donnell, and Melissa Stanley.
Family and friends gathered to visit and share memories of Wes from 5-7 p.m. Tuesday, November 1 at Rader Funeral Home, Daleville.
