The Lord Botetourt boys basketball team will be at Northside on Friday for a Blue Ridge District basketball game. It will be a tall order for the Cavs as the Vikings are undefeated after 17 games.
Northside coach Billy Pope won his 500th game at Northside last Friday against a formidable William Fleming team, 68-39. The Vikings have hardly been tested this year as they’ve run over the competition.
It hasn’t been like that in Daleville, as the Cavaliers are 2-17 on the season. On Monday at home they played a solid game against strong Staunton River team but came out on the short end again, 62-55. LB had the lead down to three points in the final minutes but couldn’t draw even.
“We played pretty well, but we had a stretch in the second quarter where we couldn’t get anything to work,” said LB coach Chad Conner.
Max Burke led the Cavs with 22 points and James-Ryan Salvi had a dozen.
It was the second time in four games the Cavs played the Eagles. Last Friday night in Moneta the host Eagles took a 61-43 win. Burke had 10 points.
