The Lord Botetourt tennis teams had a busy week as they prepare for post-season play. The girls played three matches last week and the boys played four, completing a suspended match with William Byrd.
The girls beat Byrd, 7-2, behind singles wins by Rachel Williams, Jordan Coffey, Allison Coombe and Jessica Lancenese. A day later LB shut out William Fleming, 9-0, as those same four won along with Leah Germain and Laney Dennis and Botetourt swept the doubles.
On Friday the Cavaliers played their third match in as many days and won 9-0 again over Staunton River. Singles winners were Williams, Germain, Coffey Coombe, Lancenese and Kaile Judge.
The girls finished atop the Blue Ridge District with a 7-1 regular season record and they’re 10-4 overall.
The boys had four matches last week and won all four. They beat Byrd twice, 5-1 and 6-3, and shut out both William Fleming and Staunton River by perfect 9-0 scores.
Both the boys and girls were waiting on regional seedings and opponents at press time.
