Sheriff’s Office hosting Special Olympics Torch Run in Daleville
The Botetourt County Sheriff’s Office is participating in the annual Law Enforcement Torch Run for Special Olympics Virginia on Saturday, May 17, beginning at 9 a.m. at the Botetourt Family YMCA, 115 Shenandoah Avenue in Daleville.
The annual event brings together law enforcement officers, community members, and Special Olympics athletes to raise awareness and funds. Participants can choose to run or walk a designated course, making the event accessible for all ages and fitness levels.
“The Torch Run is more than just a fundraiser” said Botetourt County Sheriff Matt Ward. “We’re honored to support the athletes of Special Olympics Virginia and encourage everyone to come out, participate, or cheer us on.”
The Law Enforcement Torch Run is a statewide initiative that sees members of law enforcement carry the “Flame of Hope” across Virginia, culminating in the opening ceremonies of the Special Olympics Virginia Summer Games.
All proceeds from the event will go directly to Special Olympics Virginia, helping to fund year-round sports training, competitions, and health services for more than 20,000 athletes across the Commonwealth.
