The Lord Botetourt and James River track teams will be competing in their district meets this week as they prepare for the more important regionals.
Lord Botetourt was scheduled to run in the Blue Ridge District meet at Staunton River on Tuesday. The Three Rivers District meet is Thursday of this week at Floyd County.
Both county schools competed in a meet in Salem last week along with the host Spartans and Glenvar. The Glenvar girls and Salem boys were team winners while River took second in the boys meet and third in the girls. Botetourt finished fourth in both but the Cavaliers did not take their full team.
James River also participated in the New River Invitational at Christiansburg High School on Saturday. First places went to Ian Hester in the 300 hurdles, Logan Williamson in the discus and, for the girls, Katelyn Wiley took first in both the high jump and 300 hurdles.
