Troutville Elementary School and the Sunshine Girls held their annual Veterans Day Program Friday morning at the school. The program was followed by a dinner for he veterans that was sponsored by the Sunshine Girls. Fifty-eight veterans attended, including four who served in World War II. Curtis Alderson was announcer for the medal ceremony and US Air Force veteran Andrew Tunnel spoke on the anniversary of the Vietnam War.
Jack Cassell (left) was among those WWII veterans. He was in the Navy and also served in the Korean War. Sunshine Girl Ann Rowell presented him with one of he medals that each veteran received as a token of appreciation for their service.
World War II Navy Marion Noel was on the ship that supplied the first flag flown on Iwo Jima in the Pacific.
Veteran Michele Deaner was presented her medal by her daughter Jadyn.
