Randy Turner, 74, of Daleville, passed away on Sunday, January 14, 2024, at LewisGale Medical Center in Salem. He was born on December 2, 1949, in Roanoke to the late Samuel Chester Turner and Sallie McKemy Turner. He was also preceded in death by his sister, Priscilla A. Stewart, and his infant brother, Robert Franklin Turner.
Randy is survived by his loving wife of 45 years, Wanda Creasey Turner; nieces, Debbie and Chris Sherrill, Sallie Hodges and fiancé, Ricky Spradlin, Stephanie Gray, and Michelle and Mike Williams; nephews, Charlie and Kelley Stewart and Shawn and Stacey Price; several great-nieces and great-nephews; and sisters-in-law, Brenda Taylor and fiancé, Greg Hundley, and Sandra Price.
Randy was a member of the Army National Guard. He retired in 2010 from Norfolk Southern Corporation with nearly 40 years of service. Randy and Wanda enjoyed traveling over the years especially to Las Vegas, and to North Myrtle Beach where they own a condo. North Myrtle Beach was Randy’s Happy Place where he made so many wonderful friends.
The family would like to thank LewisGale Medical Center 3rd Floor East and 3rd Floor CCU for the wonderful care and compassion extended to Randy during his most recent hospitalization.
Wanda would like to express her heartfelt love and thanks to all the wonderful friends and neighbors on Hilltop Circle and Azalea Road in Daleville for the compassion and friendship that have been shown to them, not just in this time of sorrow but for all the years they have known them.
Randy’s funeral service was conducted at 11 a.m. on Thursday, January 18, 2024, at Oakey’s North Chapel. Burial was in Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens. The family received friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Online condolences may be shared with the family at www.Oakeys.com.
