Two sentences could draw thousands to Buchanan this fall.
“The James River is an excellent stop on the Blue Ridge Parkway, presenting a striking image of mirrored autumn color. Even better if you can enjoy it by boat,” declares a travel article in the nation’s largest circulation newspaper, USA Today, with more than 1.6 million readers each weekday. The feature focused on top 10 places to enjoy fall foliage.
The accolade didn’t come as a surprise to the town’s leaders, who said Buchanan is well prepared for the influx of visitors. “You’re in luck as Twin River Outfitter is in the Town of Buchanan, Virginia, and is the perfect outfitter to get you on the water to experience the Upper James River Water Trail,” said Harry Gleason, head of community development for the town.
The Sept. 11 ranking suggested a visit between mid-to-late October to see peak foliage.
