On Wednesday, November 30, 2022, Anna Vande Linde, beloved friend, loving mother of two children, and proud grandmother of one grandson, passed away at the age of 72.
Anna was born to Nellie and Carman Vande Linde on August 9, 1950 in West Virginia. As an adult she moved to Virginia, where she lived most of her life and raised her two children.
Anna served as a public school teacher for Botetourt County schools for 37 years. The education and care of young people was one of her greatest passions in life. She worked tirelessly in the pursuit of leading the youth of Botetourt County toward educational success for the entirety of her career.
Anna was a great lover of the arts and instilled this love into both her children. She enjoyed expressing herself mainly through writing, as well as sometimes drawing and painting. She raised both her children to appreciate all forms of art, both of them becoming artists themselves, and always encouraged them to work hard to achieve their educational goals.
Anna’s life is a shining example of the dedication and tireless efforts of our public school teachers. She leaves us all with a legacy of incredible love of family, education, and the arts. Her spirit will live on in our hearts forever and we will miss her always.
Anna was preceded in death by her parents, Nellie and Carman, and her brother, Tommy Vande Linde. Anna is survived by her brother, Lawrence Vincent of Columbia, South Carolina; son, Aaron Furman, daughter-in-law, Julia Furman, and grandson, Everett Furman, all of Mooresville, North Carolina; and daughter, Linde Furman, of Tucson, Arizona.
Celebration of life services will be held at Botetourt Funeral Home, 14920 Lee Highway, Buchanan, on Wednesday, December 7, from 6-8 p.m. In lieu of flowers, please donate in Anna’s memory to Angels of Assisi or Boys & Girls Clubs of Southwest Virginia.
