Carl Ballard, 62, of Fincastle, passed away Tuesday, October 26, 2021 at his home following a brief illness.
Carl was born in Roanoke and lived in the area all of his life, the last 26 years in his childhood home in Fincastle. He was the son of the late Winfred B. Ballard and Geneva D. Mateer.
Carl was a sales representative for Ace Steel International and enjoyed working in his yard, hunting, and the Salt Cave in White Sulphur Springs. He was especially fond of his cats, Josey Wales, Buck, and Stella.
Carl is survived by his wife of 14 years, Bernice McCue; son and daughter-in-law, W. Derek and Tonya Ballard of Fincastle; daughter and son-in-law, Tasha and Jessie Lacks of Roanoke; grandchildren, Tiffany Bennett of Buchanan, Xander Lacks of Roanoke, Emily, Ethan, and Elana Ballard of Fincastle; his brother, Alan Hipes of Salem; cousins, Terry Vaughn and Dale (Gerry) Vaughn.
Carl’s family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Friday, November 5 at Rader Funeral Home, 630 Roanoke Road, Daleville.
