Daniel M. Waddell (Pinky), of Troutville, passed away at home on Monday, Oct. 13, 2025. He was born Oct. 27, 1942, in Alexandria, Va. He was preceded in death by his parents, Sterlie Robnet and Nellie Brown Waddell, and his brother, Sonny Waddell, Jr.
He was a veteran of the Air Force and a member of the American Legion, as well as a member of Troutville Church of the Brethren. Daniel was a retired brick mason and an avid hunter; especially of deer and bear. He loved hunting at night with his dogs, and when he was no longer able to hunt, he began making canes and walking sticks.
He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Nancy Heslep Waddell; son, Michael L. Waddell; granddaughter, Tyler Lee Waddell, of whom he was so proud; granddogs and cats; sister, Sylvia Dickerson (James Durham); sisters-in-law, Carol Waddell and Pat Hall; brothers-in-law, Roger Heslep (Myrteen) and Richard Heslep; along with several nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends on Saturday, Oct. 25, 2025, from 1 to 2 p.m. at Rader Funeral Home. A memorial service will follow at 2 p.m. with Pastor Terry Johnson officiating. Donations may be made to Troutville Church of the Brethren or the American Cancer Society.
