The Botetourt Board of Supervisors recently recognized Sally Waid, who recently retired after serving for nearly 30 years as a deputy commissioner in the Botetourt Commissioner of Revenue’s Office.
Waid, who began her work in 1994, served as a main contact point for most of the local businesses in the county, worked with personal property, elderly tax relief, and became a “vital part of local government in Botetourt County,” Booth explained during Waid’s recognition.
“It would be hard to find a local business who has not come in contact with Sally in the last several years,” Booth continued. “I just wanted to take some time to recognize the benefits she’s brought to the taxpayers here in the county, her bubbly personality, her smile, her warm greeting– it’s been a true asset to me and to many others.”
Booth presented Waid with a gift on behalf of the county for her service.
“Thank you,” Waid said. “It’s been an honor and a privilege to serve Botetourt County.”
Board Chairman Steve Clinton and other members of the board thanked Waid. The county’s Facebook page recently posted about Waid’s recognition sharing, “Congratulations to Sally Waid who is retiring from Botetourt County after 30 years of dedicated service! Sally is one of the kindest people that we know and we are so thankful for everything she has done for the citizens of BOCO! She greets everyone with a smile and has been instrumental in helping our business community!
“Sally, we will miss you very much and wish you much health and happiness as you start your next adventure!”
