The Lord Botetourt boys’ soccer team returned from spring break with a game against Magna Vista Monday and dropped a 3-0 decision in Ridgeway.
“Magna Vista has a veteran squad made up entirely of upperclassmen,” said LB coach Tim Wright. “In contrast, the Cavaliers continue to develop a young starting lineup featuring six underclassmen gaining valuable early-season experience.”
Despite the score, Lord Botetourt controlled large stretches of the match, dominating over 50 percent possession throughout.
“While the team has yet to translate that control into goals, the coaching staff sees this as an early season challenge with plenty of time to address,” said Wright. “The Cavaliers showed clear progress tactically, settling more comfortably into a system that emphasizes wide play. That adjustment paid off in increased attacking opportunities, with the team generating more goal scoring chances than in their season opener.”
Although the Cavaliers sit at 0-2 to begin the season, there is strong optimism surrounding the group. A balanced mix of upperclassmen leadership and emerging young talent has already demonstrated impressive unity and chemistry. Wright remains encouraged by the trajectory of the team, emphasizing that the foundation being built now will pay dividends as the season progresses.
LB will be back on pitch tonight, April 1, to host Heritage at 7 p.m.
