In loving memory, Eunice Grey Frye Poole Weaver was called to be with her Lord and Savior on November 29, 2022.
Eunice was born on January 3, 1930, and raised in Saltville, Va. She was the daughter of Walter and Josephine Hopkins Frye. After high school, Eunice graduated from Roanoke Memorial and Crippled Children’s Hospital Nursing School in 1951, where she fell in love and married the late Dr. Richard D. Poole. Eunice and Dr. Poole traveled with his job in higher education. Eunice served as an infirmary nurse at Ohio Northern, Bowling Green, Indiana, and High Point Universities. The Pooles had two children, Michael Lee Poole (Tammy) and Richard “Jay” Poole (Michelle). Unfortunately, Eunice was widowed in 1960. Several years later, Eunice married the late Franklin D. Weaver. The Weavers had three children, Leonard “Dale” Weaver (Cheryl), Jill Suzann Weaver Shultis (Dean), and Anita Grey Weaver.
As a woman of strong faith, Eunice was a devoted nurse at the Salem Veterans Administration Hospital for 35 years. The love and care that she brought to her five children is deeply appreciated by them and admired by all. Eunice was highly involved in the Troutville, Daleville and Lord Botetourt High School athletic booster clubs and committees at the Daleville Baptist Church. When not in a nursing uniform, Eunice actively supported her children’s endeavors on the ball fields, recitals, and scholarship pageants.
