Nancy Carrol Gibson Wells, 82, of Daleville, was a loving wife of 58 years, mother, grandmother, sister, and dear friend to all. She went to be with her Lord and Savior early Sunday morning, November 26, 2023.

Nancy is survived by her husband Toby; her brother, Dale Gibson; sons, Kevin and Kelly; daughters-in-law, Susan and Stephanie; and grandchildren, Sam, Hank, and Tyler.

Preceding her in death were her parents, Charles and Mildred Gibson; her brothers, Charles Gibson Jr., Jerry Gibson, and Ronny Gibson.

Nancy was a retired employee of Norfolk Southern Corporation where she worked 25 years after attending National Business College. Nancy loved spending time with her family and friends and was a huge lover of sports, especially her beloved UNC Tarheels. Nancy always had a strong faith and gave so much of her time and energy over her lifetime helping others. She always had a hot, delicious meal ready for anyone who was hungry and a place to stay for anyone who was weary. True to her faith, she was an active member of Enon Baptist Church for almost 50 years.

Nancy was active as a volunteer in the Botetourt T&C Women’s Club and for many years she led the North Roanoke Athletic Recreation League and the Northside High School Booster Club. Nancy was a true “doer” who was always there to help her friends, church, and community while asking little in return. Even more, she loved and supported her family dearly and nothing brought her more joy than knowing that her children and grandchildren were safe and happy

Funeral services were conducted at 2 p.m. on Friday, December 1, 2023, at Enon Baptist Church at 7971 Williamson Road by Pastor Glenn Giles with interment in Old Dominion Memorial

Gardens. The family received friends from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, November 30, 2023, at Oakey’s East Chapel, 5188 Cloverdale Road.

In lieu of flowers the family suggests that memorials be made to St. Jude Cancer Research or to a charity of the donor’s choice.
