Elmer Curtis “Curt” Westerman III entered his heavenly home on Saturday, January 25, 2025, just a few months shy of his 70th birthday.
Curt was born on April 2, 1955, to E.C. and Mary Ellen Westerman. He came into the world at the Old Lewis-Gale Hospital with the help of Dr. E.B. Morgan. He was named for his grandfather and his father, thus making him a III (3rd).
Curt was all boy, as he loved to play outdoors with trucks, air rifles, football and, of course, tractor rides in the fields with Ed Camden. Curt went to Breckinridge Elementary School, BI, and Lord Botetourt High School. He finished his education at Fork Union Military Academy.
The Cowpasture River held many summer adventures for Curt and his cousins. Family vacations were spent there as well as at the beach. It was on the River he found the true meaning of snipe hunting!!
Left to remember these adventures are his sister, Marcia “Sissy” Neighbors and Mack; nephew, Chad Neighbors (Cherie); and nieces, Christine Slingluff (David) and Ginni Ellen Morris (Dallas); great-niece, Amelia; and great-nephews, Isiah (fianceé Emma), Micah and Daxton; many cousins and childhood friends.
A graveside service will be held on Monday, February 10, 2025 at 11 a.m. at Godwin Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, hug all your family members daily as you just don’t know when God will call them or you home or make a donation to your favorite charity. Rest in peace, sweet Curt.
