The Harlem Wizards were a big hit as they entertained the crowd at James River High School last week.

The Harlem Wizards brought their act of high-flying basketball and fun to James River High School last Tuesday. The nationally reknown team played a basketball game against a team of local teachers, principals, and community leaders as a fundraiser for James River High School athletics.

The hoop artistry, ball handling, tricks, and teamwork were mesmerizing and what took it to another level was the hometown participation from the kids on court experiences. Kids were involved all night long, including having a chance to get on the court.

“We were delighted to host the Wizards,” said Chase Davidson, assistant principal at James River. “They are superb showmen who deliver fantastic all-ages entertainment for a great cause.”

Founded in 1962, the Wizards have played over 15,000 games throughout the US and 25 foreign countries on six continents. They have raised over $25 million for schools and charitable causes.

“This was an incredible night that gave our community a clean and fun show that kids and adults of all ages were able to enjoy,” said Davison. “The crowd was electric as the Wizards put on an incredible show against staff members from several schools in Botetourt County. Our goal was to give the community an event that the entire family could enjoy, and based on the feedback that we have received everyone had a great time. We are already planning to bring the Wizards back next year and hope to make this an annual event.”
